Local Land Use Planning for Pipeline Safety – Workshop & Luncheon Sept 12 noon to 1:30

Hosted by Nashua Regional Planning Commission

Audience:  Professional planners, planning and select board members, town administrators, RPC Commissioners, and anyone else with a stake in enhancing pipeline safety through land use planning best practices.

Featured Speaker: Ian Woods, Community Assistance and Technical Services (CATS) Manager, PHMSA. Mr. Woods will provide background on PHMSA, its mission of pipeline safety, and an overview of the Pipeline and Informed Planning Alliance (PIPA) resources for local stakeholders involved with local land-use planning.

NPRC will present the following materials developed with financial support from PHMSA’s Technical Assistance Grant program:

  • A “readiness checklist” of preparatory actions for community governing bodies (4 pages),
  • A more in-depth guide to land use planning best practices, for an audience of planning board and municipal staff (8 pages)
  • A model municipal pipeline ordinance that has undergone a thorough legal review
