Created in 2012, #GivingTuesday is a global day of “giving back”. It’s the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving (and after Black Friday and Cyber Monday) – this year, December 1. And this year, Plan NH will be part of it.
“Our mission,” said Robin LeBlanc, Executive Director, “is to foster excellence in planning , design and development of New Hampshire’s built environment. We believe that what we build, where we build and how has an impact on the fabric of our communities.”
“We raise awareness of that impact by bringing stories and ideas and information that we hope will inform and inspire – not only our planning and design professionals, but our community members and their leaders – to create healthy and vibrant towns and neighborhoods.”
Plan NH believes that community design, choices in where and how we live as well as get about, and stewarding our natural and historic assets are all key to creating places where people want to live, work, and/or play.
“It’s a different world we live in now,” said LeBlanc. “We have to think in a different way about what the next ten to fifty years are going to look like. Our economy is changing. Our demographics are changing. Our weather patterns are changing. So we need to change our assumptions. Some see all this as a problem. We see all this as a great opportunity to create a new future for the Granite State – one that can be bigger and better than ever.”
“Donations may be to Plan NH, ” said LeBlanc, “but we are just a means to an end. Most people want to make a difference, and for our donors, their contributions are each a powerful way to help make a difference for the future of our beloved New Hampshire.”
Of course, a donation may be made at any time, but being part of a global movement on December 1 should be pretty amazing.
